Leah Alexandra Jewellery

A life drawn to water has provided the inspiration for Leah Alexandra‘s jewellery collection, having spent most of her life on both the East and West Coasts. While obtaining a Bachelor of Design at Ryerson University, Leah worked as a jewelry buyer for a small boutique. It was then that she discovered opportunities to purchase exotic gemstones & pearls from around the world, and began collecting materials to make her own jewels. By the time Leah earned her degree in 2004, friends and family were lining up to place their orders. Committed to developing her skills and expanding her knowledge, Leah enrolled in a metalsmithing course upon moving from Toronto to Vancouver. She followed that with an internship with a local goldsmith. Now Hollywood celebs like Jessica Alba and Reese Witherspoon have adorned themselves with her designs, and pieces have been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle and InStyle magazines. Leah‘s jewellery is timeless, fresh and versatile with pieces that will compliment anything from jeans and a T-shirt to a cocktail dress. Materials used in the line included sterling silver, 14 karat goldfill, 24 karat gold vermeil, and carefully hand-selected gemstones and freshwater pearls. All jewelry is handmade in Vancouver, just a short stroll from the beach. The collection is available at select boutiques and department stores across the globe, including Nordstrom.

THE ARKELLS – Hamilton, ON

Arkells are a Canadian rock band, formed in Hamilton, Ontario. In 2006, they signed with Dine Alone Records, and have since signed with Universal Records Canada and Last Gang Records. They are managed by Last Gang Management. They have released four albums, two EPs and a number of singles that have charted in Canada. The band has won multiple Juno Awards, including one for their album High Noon in 2015. The band is named after Arkell Street in the Westdale neighbourhood of Hamilton, near McMaster University, where they lived and would practice their music. All five original band members attended McMaster. Kerman met guitarist Mike DeAngelis at a McMaster Welcome Week event where the two discovered they had an identical taste in music. Arkells are a critically acclaimed rock n roll band, known for their classic songwriting, electric live show, and workman like touring ethic. Their new album, High Noon, was produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, The Kooks, M83) and these collection of songs are the band’s most unabashed effort yet – politically charged, heart on your sleeve lyrics combined with adventurously modern and throwback production stylings.
